CONMEBOL founded in 1916, during the first hundred years of its existence, From 1989–2017 the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) used one and the same logo. It depicted the South American continent in green encircled by the flags of the countries that belong to the Confederation. The early logo, which was designed in-house, In the middle, there’s the map of South America and text 'C.S.F.' full words "Campeonato Sudamericano de Fútbol" (South-American Football Championship), now known as the "Copa América".

On May 17, 2017 in Gran Asunción, Paraguay, new logo replaces a literal and complicated badge with a football, the continent, the flags of all the members and an abbreviation. The new crest consists of a silhouette of a football with a unique digital fingerprint in the middle as a shape of the South American continent. Underneath the icon lies the text in a bold sanserif and condensed typeface. Now let’s decipher the logo and see the concept behind each piece. The football silhouette is the passion represented through each of the South American teams. This abstract shape is cut off into 10 pieces which are the 10 counties in the federation. The distinct fingerprint adds identity and expression of the South American map.
