In 1998 the Copa Mercosur was founded for the traditional top clubs from Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Chile.
For the 1998 Mercosur Cup Boca Juniors had their own special kit for the inaugural edition. All of the shirts had the same superb horizontal striped design with the iconic Quilmes sponsor.
