Netherlands were 2010 FIFA World Cup finalists and are amongst the favorites to triumph at EURO 2012 in Poland / Ukraine this summer. The team is pooled with Germany, Portugal and Denmark in one of the more difficult of the competition’s four groups, Group B. The Dutch have always been celebrated for their
enlightened and attractive football, known for ‘total’ control of a match with past masters like Ruud Gullit, Dennis Bergkamp, and Johan Cryuff. But Holland has also has a history of producing exceptional artists, who create with a contrastingly-untamed sense of style – which is where the inspiration for the new Holland Home Shirt for Euro 2012 draws it’s inspiration
The shirt is in the traditional Dutch vibrant orange, the shirt is adorned with dark orange prints at the top left and bottom right. This refers to the sash on the first Dutch national team shirt in 1904. In addition, this suggests that the design is inspired by Dutch abstract and unconventional designs and art.
Inside the neck is the graphic “Nieuwe Meesters” (New Masters) which pays homage to the creativity and craftmanship of the renowned Dutch artists of the 17th century, while also celebrating the current Dutch side, a hugely talented group of players who have the potential to make their own history. The new home shorts are in traditional orange, while the new home socks, now with improved cushioning for greater comfort, movement and protection, are also in orange, giving the entire kit a strong, clean and unmistakably Dutch appearance.
